Congratulations to the band for a few busy weeks and another 4A Class Win in Dublin!

We had a fantastic jazz band concert last night thanks to Mr. Dewhirst and our jazz band students.  Now we can take a breath and regroup this week to prepare for our last two weeks of the Marching Band Season.  Let's also remember to stay healthy… wash your hands, cover your mouth, don’t share water or drinks.

This week we will focus a lot on improving our musicianship with our show music.

Friday we have our first round football playoff game.  We will bring a pep band that will consist of our Concert Band members and select percussion students.  We will depart CN @ 6pm.  Students will wear their Nexxus t-shirt and jeans.  You will want to bring a jacket… it will be chilly.

While the Concert Band is at the football game, the wind ensemble is having a mini-camp this Fri. and Sat. with composer Dr. James Miley.  Dr. Miley is an established composer having many compositions in the big band and jazz idioms.  I commissioned him two years ago to write a piece for the wind ensemble.  He will join us on Fri. and Sat. as we get a chance to take a first pass at the piece he composed for us which we will premiere next semester.  We look forward to having him as our guest this weekend.

STANDARD OF THE WEEK

"Respect Everyone"

One of my favorite things about being involved in the Arts is the diversity we have in our programs.  It always amazes me how with this activity we can take all cultures, socioeconomic statuses, ages, and backgrounds to create a collaborative product.  The way we achieve this is by setting aside our differences to create a body of art that can define our similarities.  Respect is one of the first keys to allow us to work together to make great music and have a safe space to allow us to be creative and take musical risks.

Message from Robin Wilson, CN Band Booster President

Hello Band Family!

I was so happy to see the amount of Band Family that traveled to Dublin to support our Bronco Band and Guard. It was incredible! Thank you for showing up for our kids!

Please keep encouraging your friends and family to purchase pies to support our band. Both paper order forms and online orders are due Tuesday, 11/12. No late orders will be accepted. Pies will be delivered to Clovis North on Friday, 11/22 from 4-6pm.

Please continue to sign up to help us staff WBA Championships. We still have 45 spots left to fill to ensure that this even goes off without a hitch. Thank you, in advance, for volunteering.

Have a great rest of your week,

Robin Wilson, CNEC Booster President

WBA CHAMPIONSHIPS

We are 56% of the way there!  We need 20 more volunteer spots filled on Friday and 24 volunteer slots to fill on Sunday.  It would be great to have these slots filled by this time next week.  We appreciate your support to help us create a great experience for all of the bands participating in WBA Championships.

Don’t forget to join us for the last 30 minutes of our Tuesday night rehearsals.

We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!

Have a great rest of your week!

David Lesser, Director of Bands
